So ALL the Pace Makers planned to run  Jingle Bell Run this past December.  But, only Megan (far right) had the determination. Fortunately St. Paddy’s Day Dash finishes at a beer garden so greater Pace Makers participation is anticipated!

Hal Higdon’s Half Marathon Novice Training Guide

I am newly minted 30-year-old now preparing to run her first half marathon.  I am not a former high school athlete nor a  former college athlete, but I am dedicated to being an active person for my entire life. I want to keep this one body fit and able to serve me as long as possible.  The furthest I’ve ever jogged previously is 7 miles in the Chuckanut Footrace in Bellingham last July. 13.1 miles presents a big challenge to me.  Unfortunately to date my training has been all mental not physical and as we all know mentally training to run 13.1 miles will not get you to the finish line.  I’ve told friends, family, and co-workers I am going to finish this race, but I still haven’t run a mile in preparation.  Now with less than 15 weeks to train it’s time to find my inner Rocky or face the embarrassment!  Thanks to teammate Megan I’ve found a training plan to use from Hal Higdon. Tomorrow I will begin with the scheduled Tuesday week one 3 mile run.

Hello and welcome!

We are a team of project management professionals dedicated to increasing heart health awareness.  To demonstrate our passion and commitment to good heart health we are each training to complete the Kirkland Half Marathon benefiting the Hope Heart Institute in May 2008.

Select a team member’s name to the right and follow them through their journey towards 13.1 miles.  I think you will come away better informed in heart health and ammused as you watch us push ourselves to be fit enough to complete a 13.1 miles run.
